Spectacular Summer Patio Party
Grilled whole weef tenderloin: rubbed with Lysander Meat Rub or one of the many great rubs a knowledgeable Wohlner’s butcher can suggest to you.
Marinaded beef tenderloin: submerge in a Pick-A-Peppa sauce/marinade in a ziplock bag for 6 to 24 hours. (Greate for other cuts of meat including steaks and roasts)
Note: any Wohlner’s butcher can trim and cut-up the tenderloin to your specification free-of-charge (it is what real butchers do). Be sure to ask for and keep the trim; use it in other meals such as Beef Stroganoff or Tenderloin Tips in Mushroom and Red Wine.
Economical Tuscan Summer Patio Dinner Party
In hillside homes surrounding Florence, the locals enjoy long and leisurely summer meals al fresco with family and friends. They serve many courses of simple yet delicious foods prepared with minimum effort. The meat is cooked on outside grills while everyone sips wine and beer as they snack on foods and the first courses.
Start with toasted slices of Wohlner’s Sourdough Bread thinly covered with an olive tapenade, pesto, and tomato bruscetta (freshly made in our own deli). Serve with chilled Prosecco.
Share an Anti Pasta Plate of Wohlner’s Deli Olives, Deli Sliced Genoa Salami, slivers of Cucina Viva Pecorni Romano, and sliced fresh Red Bell Peppers
Enjoy a Caprese inspired salad made with lettuce, grape tomatoes, cubes of fresh mozzarella, small cubes of fresh or day old Wohlner’s sourdough, all dressed and tossed with olive oil, balsamic, and seas salt and coarse ground black pepper.
Nibble on fresh green beans sautéed in garlic, olive oil and balsamic and served at room temperature.
Eat from the skewers, whole Mushrooms cooked on the grill (often served with the meat).
Enjoy eye of round roast rubbed with coarse salt, minced garlic, and fresh rosemary, grilled rare to medium rare and sliced very thin.
Finish off with a fruit and cheese course: a big plate of fresh fruit, ideally fresh ripe pears which are sliced at the table, with cheeses like Pecorino or Smoked Gouda. The slight saltiness and tang of the Perconino and the smokey goodness of this gouda mingle magnificently with sweet and juicy pears, in fact almost all cheeses go well with pears! Serve a chilled Moscato with this course, it’s light, fizzy, low alcohol and slightly sweet.

Note: Season and brown the ground beef ahead of time so all you need do is gently heat. Prep a casserole dish of refried beans, salsa, and grated cheese and slip it into a warm oven just before your guests arrive. The rest, well you know the drill. Mostly it’s about chatting and enjoying, and not about cooking.
